Golden Visa

The technical name is “Residence Permit by Investment” (“ARI”) but these are commonly known as Golden Visas and considered as a doorway to enter in Europe and benefit from all its potentialities. Any individual who is a non-EU-citizen may apply for a temporary residence permit by investment and gain access to the Schengen Area for 90 days in each period of 180 days, and the possibility of obtaining Portuguese Citizenship after 5 years.

The truth is that the Portuguese Golden Visa, launched in 2012, continues to be one of the most popular European Golden Visa Programs. Even with the recent changes (in force since 7th October 2023) in terms of eligible investments (with the revocation of ALL real estate investments), the program maintains its overall benefits and straightforward requirements for all applicants.

The program also has the advantage of allowing the Investors to be able to “extend” its benefits to their household, thereby covering spouse, sons, dependent ascendants, and also civil unions = the so-called Family Reunion.
